武蔵高等学校収蔵の戦前の昆虫標本の整理(予報)～収蔵標本から探る創立期の生物相調査とFauna Musashinensisとの関連について～

Abstract

武蔵高等学校中学校標本庫に収蔵されている昆虫標本の全体を把握するために，標本棚の整理を行った。その結果，64の標本箱が確認され，主に1920–1940年代に旧制武蔵高等学校時代に東京近郊で採集された標本が収められていた。そのうちの鞘翅目(コウチュウ目)の一部をまとめた福田・白井(2020)の目録の記載内容の分析を行い，採集ラベルに書かれた平山修次郎と武蔵高等学校の関係を文献調査により調べた。その結果，平山修次郎と本校には標本を通した深い繋がりがあり，収蔵標本の中に，学校草創期に平山が周辺の昆虫相を調べたFauna Musashinensisの未発表と考えられる標本が含まれていることが判明した。これらの標本にはカワラハンミョウなど現在の東京の絶滅種が含まれ，戦前の東京の環境を示す自然史標本として価値があるといえる。

We re-checked insect specimens stored in a specimen room in Musashi High School to catalog the whole of these specimens. As a result, we registered 64 cabinets. Most of specimens in the cabinets had been collected in Tokyo in the period of 1920s-1940s when Musashi High School was a seven-year secondary boys' school. In this study, we analyzed the descriptive contents of Fukuda and Shirai (2020), especially a catalogue of specimens of Coleoptera which are a part of the cabinets, and also researched the literatures on the relationship between Musashi High School and Shujiro Hirayama, the collector of the specimens in the catalogue compiled by Fukuda and Shirai (2020). As a result, we revealed that through these specimens Shujiro Hirayama had a close connection with Musashi High School. Then, we discovered that some specimens in the collection are unpublished specimens of Fauna Musashinensis, which Mr. Hirayama collected around Musashi High School in 1926. The insect collection contains local species extinct in Tokyo, such as Cicindela laetescripta. Therefore, the collection has value as specimens of natural history which record the environment of Tokyo in the 1920's.
